“Above all, do not lose your desire to walk. Every day I walk myself into a state of well-being and walk away from every illness. I have walked myself into my best thoughts, and I know of no thought so burdensome that one cannot walk away from it.”
For quite some time now I have wanted to write about walking (and to actually do it - in hopes that writing about it would spurn me on) complete with some kind of a "program", i.e. tracking steps, tracking time and frequency, creating a walking journal with photos along-the-way etc. etc. I imagined all sorts of information including a list of all the benefits, as sort of a self-motivation tool, if you will. In spite of "knowing" all the benefits I found myself perplexed that I did not walk more and I thought posting about them would help me do it. Apparently, I needed something to get the flame ignited to even write about it, let alone do it. Sooooooo lo and behold all the planets lined up and the motivation that I needed came to me through a combination of three things; 1) exceptionally good weather; 2) the amazingly beautiful season and last but not least; 3) the "
My Rose Valley" blog. The timing was perfect!
Annette at My Rose Valley is on a mission to walk and is welcoming others to join her.Click
here for My Rose Valley's walking info and inspiration. Whew, I do not have to reinvent the wheel after all; Annette has done it for me and many others. She has even listed the benefits of walking on
this post. I need every single one of those benefits! If those don't get me out the door nothing will. Oh, and today I downloaded a walking tune that she recommended: "Someone I Used to Know"...maybe that someone will be the former "non-walking" me. :-) I will listen on my walk today.
You'll also see her button in my side bar. Just click on it and it will take you to all her walking posts with the most current post at the top.
I am not sure how I am going to approach this, I have not read all her posts but I thought I would start by......walking.
So I've got my Nano (for the pedometer feature and the new tune), water bottle and camera. (I don't know what Kierkegaard would have thought about all those gadgets....but nevertheless I'm taking them) and I am headed out the door.
Happy Trails, y'all!!!
